1. Remit (noun): the task or area of activity officially assigned to an individual or organization. (नियन्त्रण या प्रभाव के बाहर)   
  • Synonyms:  Area of Responsibility, Area of Activity, Sphere, Ambit, Province, Territory, Realm.
  • Antonyms: Interference, Intervention.
Example:  Indian judiciary is recognized for working under legal remit but decision to ban the alcohol is an audacious one.

2. Vicinity (noun): The area near or surrounding a particular place. (आस पास /निकटता /समीपता)
  • Synonyms: Proximity, Nearness, Locality, Range, Region, Surroundings.
  • Antonyms: Faraway, Distant. 
Example: According to the news, we will have a thunderstorm in the vicinity of our neighborhood within a couple of hours.
3. Laudable (adjective): (of an action, idea, or aim) deserving praise and commendation. (प्रशंसनीय/सराहने योग्य
  • Synonyms: Appreciable, Admirable, Laudable, Commendable, Praiseworthy.
  • Antonyms: Disrespected, Unworthy, Bad, Blameable.
Example: While Jason did not win the contest, his efforts were laudable enough to be mentioned by the judges.

4. Ironically (adverb): In an ironic manner. / used in reference to a paradoxical, unexpected, or coincidental situation. (विडम्बना से// विपरीततया

  • Antonyms: Simply, Straightly, Directly, In a straightforward manner.
Example: The weight loss product is supposed to be very effective, but ironically, it is no longer on the market.

5. Sanctity(noun): The state or quality of being holy, sacred, or saintly. (पवित्रता)

Example: According to many religions, it is a sin to terminate the sanctity of the marriage vows.

  • Antonyms: Real, Original.
Example: Because the judge was concerned about setting a negative precedent, he took his time settling upon a verdict in the civil case.

8. Venture (verb): Undertake a risky or daring journey or course of action. (जोखिम भरे काम में पड़ना
  • Synonyms: Endeavor, Investment, Undertaking, Pursuit, Adventure.
  • Antonyms: Idleness, Assurance, Certainty, Inaction, Protection, Safety. 
Example: Although the venture is going to cost me a lot of money, I can easily recoup my funds in three months if the business is successful.
Verb forms: Venture, Ventured, Ventured.

9. Notion (noun): A conception of or belief about something. (विचार/मत
  • Synonyms: Idea, Belief, Concept, Conception, Opinion, View, Thought, Impression, Image.
  • Antonyms: Ignorance, Reality, Misconception, Unconsciousness.
Example: The notion that all people are created equal is a political philosophy rather than a literal fact.

10. Wary (adjective):  Feeling or showing caution about possible dangers or problems. (सावधान/चौकन्ना)
  • Synonyms: Cautious, Careful, Vigilant, Attentive

Example: Despite their employer’s assurances, the workers were wary of the changes he was requiring in their contracts.
